Mrs.L's Testimony and Day for Herself at Demi Girl's Studio

I love to get in touch with clients after a shoot and have them fill out a questionnaire about their experience and their “why” for booking. It inspires me every time and I just know it’ll inspire my future clients as well. Enjoy reading about Mrs.L’s experience and “why” for her Demi Girl Boudoir shoot:)

What Inspired you to book a boudoir photoshoot? My husband and I have been married for 10 years. In that span of time, we've moved 5 times, had 2 children and left the City to officially become suburbanites. I felt like I was losing a bit of my identity and I didn't want my husband to stop seeing me as the person he met over a decade ago. I had recently lost almost all of my baby weight, I was training for my 5th marathon and was really proud of myself. I wasn't trying to be thin, but to be healthy. And I am finally in a place where I feel very healthy and happy with my body, despite the stretched out stomach skin :) But more than doing it for my husband, I wanted to do it for me. This might sound very vain, but I wanted physical proof of my journey to better health and fitness. I worked really hard to feel healthy and strong, and “I” needed to remind myself of that.

What made you choose Demi Girl for your boudoir photos? The amazing reviews about Adrienne and her team were overwhelming (in a good way) and the experience did not disappoint. Her photos were all incredible, and her gallery had such an incredible range of women that I knew I'd feel comfortable. Some of the other budoir photographers all had galleries of women that look like Gisele and I remember doing a ton of research and seeing other photographers and thinking "I won't fit in". With Demi Girl, I loved what I saw in the gallery!

What did you like best about your boudoir experience with Demi Girl? Literally all of it. From my initial phone call to all of the email correspondence to the tips on what to wear/bring to the second I walked in and was welcomed into the makeup chair (with a cheese plate!) to the session itself. It was honestly just so incredible. I was so worried about feeling uncomfortable or weird but it was honestly just such a welcoming and positive experience from start to finish.

Did you have fun or were you super nervous? A little of both :) I remember coming out in my first outfit and thinking "oh my god. I'm standing in someone's studio in my underwear" and literally within 5 seconds, Adrienne was showing me how to pose (she gives IMPECCABLE and idiot-proof instructions :) and I was having actual, real fun. I should also share that the makeup artist she works with is equally as incredible and talented. If you're going to spend 4 hours with people arching your back in 5 inch heels, trust me when I say these two are the ones you want!

Did this experience help give you a more positive perception of the way you see yourself? To this day, I cannot get over how amazing they made me look! I mean, I peeled off my glamorous fake lashes and washed my face on the drive home, made my kid a grilled cheese and was back to real life by 6pm. But for those 4 glorious hours, I was ME (suped up a bit). I took a picture of myself right after I left to capture what I looked like, and when I'm having an absolute garbage day, I pull it up on my phone, and I remember that even when real life and adulting kind of sucks, I can look at that picture and remember that I have the ability to be a bad ass. The amount of times since my shoot that I've been talking with friends and have pulled up my photos on her website and said "that's my butt!" is too many to count. I just feel SO GOOD and so proud of the way I felt that day and Adrienne masterfully captured that.

What would you say to anyone that's thinking about booking a shoot but their nerves are keeping them from making the call? I mean, do it. Without question, just do it. Trust me - I'm the person that was like "I'm going to feel weird, I need to lose weight, I don't have any cute things, my stomach is bloaty, what if I feel dumb/awkward, I'm never going to look like a model doing this, what if I don't know what poses to do, what if I end up looking like a reject from America's Next Top Model?". No. Stop. You should just do it. You will feel incredible, Adrienne will be the most supportive photographer, and you will immediately feel like she was meant to do this. She's THAT good.
