Stressed Out? Demi Girl's Luxury Lakeview-Lincoln Park Studio Helps Women Relax!

When’s the last time you truly felt connected to your sexy, feminine side? As working women ourselves, we know life can get hectic… and that’s probably an understatement for most women. Women tend to wear all the hats in their lives and doing that can be a fast track to exhaustion and disconnection. We forgo our naturally calm and creative feminine energy and get stuck operating from a pattern of stress that tells us to “go go go!” until the to-do list is tackled and the money is made. At the end of the day, all we want are our pajamas and a Pequods pizza (if you're from Chicago you gotta know that joint). It’s hard to feel sexy in survival mode.

It seems counterintuitive, but a boudoir shoot can be the perfect antidote for women who find themselves stuck in “go mode” all the time- here’s why:

1. Getting out of your comfort zone can help you break the pattern of stress

When there’s a lot on our plate, we can get stuck in a loop of habits like unconsciously tensing our bodies or worrying about the next thing we need to do. Maybe you’ve gotten used to sitting at a desk all day with your shoulders scrunched up to your ears and your jaw clenched, or maybe you’re always running around getting the kids to school and activities. Either way, it can feel like every busy day is the same.

Getting in front of the camera dressed in lingerie might sound like the last thing you’d want to do, but because it challenges you to slow down and appreciate yourself for an afternoon, it’s one of the best ways to interrupt the rigid patterns that stress creates in our lives. Beyond that, posing for your photos brings your awareness back into your body so you can notice your tension and let it go, which is something your photographer can help you with as she guides you through different poses.

Also, when’s the last time someone did your makeup? How long has it been since you’ve worn anything but work clothes or sweatpants? A boudoir shoot is a great reminder that you deserve to break out of your routine every once in a while and get back in touch with who you are as a woman, rather than who you are as a mother, employee, wife, or daughter.

2. There’s no end goal other than to feel good.

It’s great to have goals, but if we’re all being honest, sometimes it’s easy to focus a little too much on them. So many of us are trying to lose weight, make more money, improve our relationships, or be better parents. We have an end goal in mind, and so much of what we do day to day becomes a means to an end to achieve those goals. There’s nothing wrong with that, but burn out is usually right around the corner if we don’t balance out all that goal-digging with some good old-fashioned fun or creativity.

Even Google encourages their employees to follow their “20% rule”, which means that they spend 80% of their time working and 20% of their time pursuing something creative just for the sake of creativity (Fast Company). Even though you’re the model and not the photographer, boudoir shoots can get your creative juices flowing and help ease you out of the mindset that you have to “achieve” something. We take care of the details, so all you have to do is show up, let go a little, and let yourself feel good just for the sake of feeling good.

3.  It gives you something new and exciting to look forward to

The fun of a boudoir shoot starts even before you get to the studio. If you’re feeling like your life has become a steady cycle of eat, sleep, work, and repeat, it can be fun to break out of it with a trip to the salon to get a blowout for your shoot or book a mani-pedi with girlfriends so you can get out all of your pre-shoot jitters over pampering and lunch. Or, if you’ve been trying to eat better or work out more, booking a shoot a couple of months in advance can even help motivate you to stay on track when you get bored or discouraged.

Knowing that you have something new and exciting to look forward to can make it easier to get through long workdays, hectic wedding planning, caring for a newborn, or even getting through a breakup.
